Cloud Storage Import
Overview
Cloud Storage Import lets you connect your existing OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox account and import files directly into Firm Chambers — no manual downloads required. This feature is available on Business and Enterprise plans.
Step 1: Connect a Cloud Storage Provider
Navigate to Data Import > Cloud Import from the main sidebar. You will see connection cards for each supported provider. Click "Connect" on the provider you want to use and authorise access through the secure OAuth flow. Your login credentials are never stored by Firm Chambers.
Step 2: Browse Your Files
Once connected, click "Browse" to explore your cloud storage. You will see your folder structure exactly as it appears in your cloud provider. Use the search bar to find specific files by name. Navigate into folders by clicking on them, and use the breadcrumb trail to move back up.
Step 3: Select Files for Import
Tick the checkbox next to any files or folders you want to import. Selecting a folder imports everything inside it. The import bar at the bottom shows how many items you have selected.
Step 4: Choose a Target Client and Case
Before starting the import, select the client and optionally the case where the imported documents should be filed. This ensures your documents are organised from the moment they arrive.
Step 5: Start the Import
Click "Start Import" to begin. You can monitor progress in the Import Jobs table at the bottom of the page. Each job shows the number of files, current status, and completion time.
Provenance Tracking
Every imported document records where it came from — the cloud provider, original file path, original file name, and the date it was imported. This metadata is visible on the document detail page under "Source" and provides a complete audit trail.
Managing Connections
You can connect multiple accounts from the same provider. To disconnect an account, click the disconnect button on the connection card. Disconnecting does not remove any previously imported files.
Tips
- Import large folder structures in batches to keep jobs manageable.
- Use the search function to find specific files before importing rather than browsing through deep folder trees.
- Check the Import Jobs table for any failed imports and retry them individually.
- Provenance metadata is read-only and cannot be edited, ensuring audit integrity.
